Canteen Reading Room
Pulse Art Fair Miami

Thorstein Foundation with Canteen Magazine and envoy enterprises developed the Canteen Reading Room at Pulse Art Fair Miami 2008. Designed as a salon to act as an antithesis to the art fair experience. Guests were encouraged to stay for extended periods of time. They could observe the art work, read from the artist book library, or simply have a gin cocktail and converse with the proprietors or other guests.

In addition to Stephen Piersons Canteen Magazine, the space was inhabited with works by John OHara, Peter Halasz, Alex Rose, Alyssa Taylor Wendt, Denise Schatz, and an extended performance by Gill and Jill Bumby.

For five days the space became a living room instead of a flea market kiosk.
